The Good Vibrations Music & Arts Festival (GVMAF), an all-day festival hosted by Boerne-based nonprofit Aid the Silent—an organization focused on advocating for the deaf and hard-of-hearing community—won Best of the Fest-Charitable Music Fest in the FestForums Conference awards in Santa Barbara, California in November. Festivals across the United States are recognized in their respective categories: Film, Music, and Food & Beverage. And then broken down into sub categories: Charity, Sustainability, and Breakthrough.
The Good Vibrations Music & Arts Festival, hosted in San Antonio this past May, was completely deaf accessible featuring 8 hours of real-time captioning, sign language interpretation, T-coiling, backpacks that transmitted sound into vibrations, and an LED dance floor, that synced to the music. Good Vibrations Music & Arts Festival was the first festival to include deaf accommodations to this magnitude.
The FestForums draws hundreds of festival industry leaders from all around the country addressing cutting-edge technology, talent, ticketing, sponsorships, scheduling, merchandising, operations, sustainability, charitable work, innovation and safety.
Nearly a thousand people from across the nation gathered at The Fess Parker hotel to connect with festival experts in this 3-day event. Top industry professionals included celebrities Frances Fisher, Kenny Loggins, Chuck Leavell, Jeff Bridges, T Bone Burnett, The Coen Brothers and many others.
