We are always incredibly grateful and blown away by the generosity of others. But today, as we sat with Harvey Najim and his team, we were in tears as he told us that he was giving us a $50,000 check for a van.
Our team has been stumped for an entire year about how we would transport Deaf Young Life San Antonio kids to and from meetings, church, camp. We questioned how we could help get deaf and hard-of-hearing kids to field trips when their schools did not have the budget to make their field trips deaf accessible, let alone take them to the outing. We wondered how we would help bring kids to doctor’s offices to get new audiograms or to hearing aid fittings. The need seemed almost impossible to meet.
We did not have an answer. We did not have the budget to buy one for ourselves since other needs were just as great. But thanks to kindness of Harvey Najim and his amazing team for believing in our mission to serve this beautiful group of people, we now do.
